The doctors and entire team of Cotswold Family Dentistry keep up with new technology and advances in dentistry through numerous continuing education courses each year. North Carolina dentists are required to take 15 hours of continuing education classes each year to maintain their dental licenses. However, Drs. Bailey, Patel & Beckmann dedicate themselves to earning much more than the required annual hours.
Dr. Darragh Bailey graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental Scholl in 1989. She has practiced in Charlottesville, Virginia and Winston Salem, North Carolina before moving the Charlotte with her family. She is dedicated to her patients and has a passion to deliver excellence in dentistry and believes it a great honor to practice in Charlotte. Her call to dentistry came early when as a child she required extensive dental work. She felt comfortable with her dentist and she knew from age five what she wanted to be when she grew up. After graduating dental school, she visited her childhood dentist to tell him that he was the reason she chose to go into the profession. "It was a great feeling for both of us."
After practicing for 30 years, Dr. Bailey has decided to continue her patient care working part time. She values the relationships she has built over the years with her patients and trusts her partners, Dr. Jessica Patel and Dr. Brianna Beckmann to continue the same great care!
Dr. Bailey spends her time outside the office with her husband, Russ Bailey. Together they have two adult children, David and Erin. She is active in her church and loves spending time exercising, and hiking the Appalachian Trail with her husband.
Dr. Patel was raised in Raleigh, NC, where her parents and sister still live. Her husband was born and raised in Charlotte, so in 2007 she was happy to make Charlotte her home. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and a minor in Chemistry. In 2006, she graduated from the UNC Chapel Hill dental school. After graduation, she went on to complete a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Florida.
Dr. Patel places a high value upon building her knowledge through continuing education. North Carolina dentists are required to take 15 hours of continuing education classes each year to maintain their dental licenses. However, each year Dr. Patel dedicates herself to earning much more than 15 annual hours. After graduating dental school, she went on to obtain her fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. As part of the requirements for fulfilling her fellowship, she obtained over 500 hours of continuing education in only 4 years! She has attended some of the most renowned continuing education facilities available for dentist, including the Spear Institute as well as L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. When she was a resident at the University of Florida, she was awarded the Chairman Emeritus Scholarship from the L.D. Pankey Intstitute in 2007. Each year, Dr. Patel travels across the country to learn from the best speakers. She believes that being a constant student is the way to provide patients the care they deserve.
Outside of work both she and her husband stay busy raising their daughter, Elise, and son, Ronan. In her spare time she enjoys baking, traveling, playing the piano and supporting her favorite team, the UNC Tarheels!
Dr. Brianna Beckmann grew up in the northeast and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. A discovered passion for dentistry modified her path from a military career to one of dentistry. The skills acquired through military training, including the coordination of a qualified sharp shooter and the personal development in leadership and teamwork, applies seamlessly to the highly detailed dentistry that she now delivers amid a happy work environment. She acquired dental prerequisites and a degree in Biology from Rutgers University so that she could attend the world's first dental school, University of Maryland School of Dentistry. After graduation, she went on to complete a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Stratton Veteran Affairs Medical Center in New York. She felt strongly about reconnecting herself with the military and supporting the veterans through dentistry. She practiced in both Albany and Queensbury New York prior to permanently relocating to Charlotte in 2017.
Dr. Beckmann attentively listens to concerns and customizes care to address each individual's personal goals and needs. She takes an interactive approach to educate, restore, and promote overall health by beginning with a happy and healthy smile. She has experience in cosmetic dentistry, implant restorations, crown and bridges, extractions, and root canals.
In addition to providing happy smiles, Dr. Beckmann enjoys healthy cooking, yoga and travel adventures with her fiance Drew.
